Afternoooooon internetters. Here's the news...
New photoshoot to have a ganders at!! Exiting. The van Stone clan journeyed up to the big smoke last Monday so the dancer van Stone could have some kind of modelling test shoot done. Don't ask me what it was all about, I was just along for the ride AND to sneak some of my garments in to be photographed. Very cunning. Even managed to get in one of my final pieces for uni graduation, which was a result as it was never photographed at the time because it was handed in late.... story of my university life. Here's a few of my favs, but if you click RIGHT HERE you can see the rest. <3

This place is like deadline city at the moment. Record number of dresses on the go for Elizabeth van Stone designs, all of which are due between now and August 3rd. Uuuuuurgh, I know I shouldn't even be updating this blog because I don't have the time. Its one of those days when I've drunk too much coffee, been sitting down too long, and would rather be squealing and getting exited for MY BEST FRIENDS HEN DOO ON SATURDAY!!!!! I'm so bloody exited. BUT no time for that yet, people need dresses. Was just guna share some pics of things in my life right now. Here are two graduation dresses on the go for two girls, that by rights, should still be 12 years old. And here is one I finished earlier... This evening dress is destined to see New York, cruise the world, and generally have a better time than me sat in my little sewing room. And finally. Someone needs this dress. In pinks? or auberginey colours?
OOOOOOOmagosh. Elizabeth van stone Designs has been crazy busy as of late!!! Hence no recent online updates. WELL... where to begin. Prom dresses are coming along nicely, although I'm not allowed to show any pics or sneak peaks of any kind. very annoying. Lots of alterations to shop bought prom dresses an'all. Cruise dresses, evening dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and the highlight of the year........ a WEDDING DRESS!! I'm just a little exited. Sooooo happy for the Bride to be, gorgeous girl in a gorgeous dress! congratulations hun xxx Must also, on a slightly different note, congratulate a duet from Sue Merret School of Dance for their first performance of their new character a couple of Sundays ago. I'm sure you remember me banging on about the costumes. Here they are, not displayed amazingly, but they're too slim jim to fit on the mannequins! - Classical version of Anna +Elsa (Frozen). Another current project - the van Stone at Laine Theatre arts needs a graduation dress. so here is what I've tasked myself with..... Oh Julien Macdonald how I love thee. This dress is the bloody bomb. I think I'm guna go for a royal blue version though. Made the basic shift dress and here's a few things haphazardly pinned onto the mannequin to try and sort it all out in my brain! Last thought before I get back to sewing the crap outta these dresses. What I wouldn't have given to walk into my prom like this. Want one? You know who to call!
xx Heeeeey, Sunday afternoon catch up time. LOTS gone on this week! Very exiting times, but as usual can't actually disclose any info or pics as it's all top secret and very hush hush. Poop. So we shall start with Festival costumes for the looming Fareham Festival. Brand new character duet for Sue Merrett School of Dance(ers), based on the story of the AMAZING Disney film 'Frozen'. Dancer friendly costume interpretations of Anna and Elsa - one piece, slight stretch, voluminous skirts. Anna - Elsa - (unfinished) New logo time for Elizabeth van Stone. I know it doesn't mean much to anyone else but my business is like my baby and I'm very proud of how it's grown and continuing to do so. Thank you to everyone who has trusted me and supported my work, love you all lots and I feel very privileged to be the one making you all look b-e-a-utiful and showing off your gorgeous figures!! <3 And now it is time to finish the catch up, it's time to go and enjoy the first day of British summer time which has actually turned out to be soooo sunny!! Also happy Mothers Day to all those mummys out there. MASSIVE happy Mothers Day to my mumma who is the very best in the world!!!
<3 <3 <3 Afternooooooon all. Just a thought about alterations/adjustments for hemlines, bodices, straps, sleeves etc - particularly for Prom dresses and also not forgetting Suits for the boys. Again, very difficult to give a price list for alterations as every garment is constructed differently with linings and seams and pain in the bum stuff like that. The best I can do is estimate that... For the girls... Basic hem line alteration - £20 Bodice reconstruction - £30 Shoulder-strap alteration - £5 For the boys... Suit cuff alteration - £20 Suit tailoring - £35 Trouser hem lift - £5 So without seeing what needs to be nipped and tucked, those are my best estimates. Could be more, could be less depending on original construction. You can drop me an email, or contact through Facebook. xx
Well well well, if you were searching for inspiration for the perfect evening/prom dress..... OSCAR alert!!! I think this has been the most amazing covert night for flashing the fashion yet!! ermagurd. For starters I think we can say with some confidence that the fishtail silhouette is in BIG time. YEY for two reasons; one, it is my all time fave shape, and two, it is such a flattering line. Peplums were also a popular feature, along with pleating, gathering , and draping. Lots of glitz, which is always appreciated.... although Lady GaGa looked like she was gunna bust out into a rendition of 'Let it go'. Deff deff deff go and google Oscars 2014 and have a snoop around at all the totally amazing dresses. I shall share my aaaaabsolute fave with you..... <3 And now to the business of Classical Greek class tunics - made to measure.
You will need 2m Chiffon (your choice of colour) 1 reel cotton (colour matching chiffon)... 1m elastic (1cm width) £20 construction cost OR £25 ALL INCLUSIVE Limited fabric available! £5 per pair of edged scarves. (SUE MERRETT SCHOOL OF DANCE-ERS) Email/call me and let me know which Greek class you're in, and I can come up with tape measure and samples. Helloooooo and welcome to the lastest blog post from Elizabeth van Stone. A few things to share today... 1) NEW price guide for Boutique designs, so deff go and check that out!! You can do that by clicking below. 2) Latest project for me to get stuck into. Beautiful vintage lace dress circa 1930 needs a makeover... although still looking pretty neat and trim for an 84 year old piece! Collaborated design between myself and customer. The new design still hasn't quite caught up with 2014, but we are going for a stunning 1950's vintage look. <3 <3 3) Here is a picture of my dog with eye-bogies. Because I can. The End
Latest and last ever prelim costume for a Lainy. 1940's - Accentuate the positive. 'Dig for Victory' culottes, lose fit 'Landgirl' blue jersey, Union Jack headscarf. Been stoning today, trying out new glue which seems to stick like cement to EVERYTHING. Yey for crystal cons, boo for furniture and literally EVERYTHING else I touch.
<3 them tho.... Weeeeeeell, here we are again. Another Monday. SO. You have a whoooole new collection of pics from my AW2013 shoot to look at, you lucky things! I ABSOLUTELY <3 them and I'm so grateful to everyone involved. Photographed at the gorgeous Grenville Hall by the talented Mr Welsh, models Alice, Kath, Steph and Em did a marvellous job showing off the dresses. And in other news....... Currently working on costumes, prom dresses, evening dresses, you name it I'm on it. Here's something I'm loving atm - Sequin panelled leotard with sheer circular skirt. <3
